ERCOT Nodal Dataset for PLEXOS
Recorded May 11th 2022
Some of the data improvements in this release are as follows:
- Transmission & Generator Geocodes – Latitude and Longitude information for transmission nodes and electric generators are present in the dataset.
- Long Term Capacity Expansion – Zonal capacity expansion plan data till 2042 is included in the dataset with Lithium-ion battery as a potential resource option.
- Multi-year Powerflow Data – Dataset is based on recently released 2022 SSWG powerflow data for years 2022-2028.
- Interface Definitions – All major interfaces provided by ERCOT are now included in the dataset along with their updated limits.
- Lubbock Modeling – Lubbock Power and Light is included in ERCOT along with its 345 KV lines impacting the Panhandle interface Generic Transmission Capability.
- Additional Fuel Hubs – Three additional natural gas fuel hubs – Agua Dulce, Texas Oklahoma and Waha are now added in the dataset along with Houston Ship Channel and Henry Hub for improved natural gas modeling.
- Phase Shifters – Phase Shifting Transformers are modeled as a separate class in the dataset.
- ORDC Parameters – Updated ORDC parameters (VOLL and Price Cap) are now included in the dataset based on 2022 financial year.
- Resource CDR Mapping – ERCOT Capacity, Demand and Reserve report names are provided as a separate custom column for electric generators modeled in the dataset to improve further analyses.
- Resource EIA Code Mapping - EIA codes are provided for all generators included in the dataset for enhanced mapping with publicly available EIA 860 annual data.
- Generator Mapping Type – A new custom column is added in the dataset that describes the approach and source used for generator to transmission node memberships. Three major sources were used - (i) SSWG Powerflow; (ii) Market Research and Interconnection Queue; (iii) Mapping Approximation.
- Financial Base Year – Updated the base year for all financial data so that is expressed in 2020 dollars (was 2012).
